    Many experienced dancers audition for various dance companies and professional roles. At auditions, every dancer must provide a dance resume that includes important information about past experience and skills. A resume is a form of self-advertisement, a way to showcase your talents and qualifications. According to Eric Wolfram, author of "Your Dance Resume," a dance resume is "a carefully selected and formulated document that distills and highlights your accomplishments and experience to serve your current dance goals." Writing and typing a dance resume is simple and requires little preparation.



    Things You'll Need:

    Word Processing Software or Dance Resume Template

    1.Write down every notable point in your dance history. This includes dance companies or schools you danced with, important performances, featured roles (especially solos and duets), special dance scholarships, relevant workshops, and awards and medals. Note any choreography, acting, modeling or musical experience and training.

    2.Remove irrelevant information from your current resume. Research the dance company you apply to, or the role you apply for, and take out any information on your life that is not relevant. Your dance resume should provide only necessary information for the specific job.

    3.Organize the remaining information into categories. The categories may include career highlights, professional experience, training and education.Open a word processing software program on a computer. Use one of the program's resume templates, or access the Internet to find example templates.

    4.Type your resume. Start with your personal information. Create headings to separate each category. Many dance resumes list the categories in this order: objective, career highlights, professional experience, dance training and education.
    5.Your information does not have to be in chronological order. Instead, put the most impressive information first. Limit the resume to one page if possible. Show your creativity with fonts and design, but make the resume easy to read.
    6.Print your resume on nice paper. Include a professional dance picture and/or a head shot as well as a cover letter with your resume.
