• FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

     

    Physical Exams are required of all new students and for those students transferring from another school district, state, and/or country. Physicals are also recommended yearly. 

    Student injuries such as fractures must be reported to the school nurse and written note from MD must accompany the student (i.e may use cruthes, elevators, extra time for classes) so that accommodations can be made accordingly if necessary.

    Absences: If you realize your child will be absent, please call the main office (973) 677-4050 ext 41700 or the attendance office at 677-4050 ext 41840 and leave a message. Include the reason for the absence and the estimated time that your child will be absent.

    Medications: Medications may not be given in school without permission from the student’s doctor and parents/guardians. The medication must be a prescription. Please contact the nurse to sign a medication permission form or call if you have any questions.

    1. What do I do if a student stays home sick? Please call the school to report the absence every day when the student is absent. The student may need a physician's note to return to school depending on the reason for the absence. Please contact the health office if you have any questions or need clarification. 
    2. How do I get a copy of my child's immunization records?
    3. Speak with your primary doctor or ask the school nurse.
    4. What to do if a student is injured at school? 
    5. The student will be sent to the school nurse and upon triage, the school nurse will determine if the parent/guardian needs to pick up the student from school.
    6. What to do if a student has a fever? 
    7. Keep the student at home, seek medical attention. Students must be fever free at least 24 hours prior to returning to school without the use of medication, i.e tylenol. The student may also need a physician's note upon return.
