    Course Overview:

    This course is designed to allow the student to explore audio design, music composition, audio manipulation, and music production. Students will be able to express creativity through the use music production software (Pro Tools 12), and professional recording equipment.  Students will develop the capability to work with multi track sessions, record and edit audio, and produce professional quality music.

     

     Course Content and Outcomes 

    Students will enhance their musicianship skills and knowledge of music theory and historical context while working with professional music software.

    2. The student will acquire, interpret and manage electronic information for specific purpose.
    3. The student will organize/create computer generated products.
    4. The student will communicate ideas through the study of technology.
    5. The student will practice legal and ethical behavior in regard to technology.

     

    Grading Policy/Assessments

    Since this class is predominantly Project-based, all major projects will be graded with the weight of a test grade. (see below)

    Classroom Procedures/Expectations: 

    It is necessary for all students to observe and obey the following rules for this class to ensure a positive learning environment. Any student who is unable to follow these guidelines will have their computer privileges revoked for a time period determined by the teacher.

    All students will adhere to the following:

    1. Be ON TIME and BE PREPARED.
    2. Be RESPECTFUL of other students and of Mr. Postas.
    3. Absolutely NO drinks (except for water), food, gum.

    Cell phones may be used ONLY when instructed to do so, otherwise they are to be collected at the beginning of every class period and will be returned when class is finished.

    1. Remain at your designated station at ALL times.
    2. Use your computer for class related purposes ONLY.
    3. Save all work and close out of ProTools, return your chair to where you got it and wrap up, bag and return your headphones to its correct place in the locker at the end of EVERY class.

     

    BATHROOM/WATER POLICY

    • You may not use the bathroom within the first 10 minutes or the last 10 minutes

         of class.

    • You may not get water during class time.

     

     

    Attendance: 

     

    Attendance is mandatory to achieve success. You are responsible for all work when you are absent from class for both excused and unexcused absences. Please do not request makeup work at the beginning of class. Instead, please come find me during my free time.
