United States History I –
The United States History II course will examine American History from the Native and European settlement of North America to the American Civil War and Reconstruction. The class will examine American origins and issues settlement and expansion up to the nation’s darkest hours of the War Between the States. The class will combine several different styles, project based learning, cooperative learning, and the use of technology.
This is a required course and you must achieve a passing grade before you will be allowed to graduate from Orange High School.
- Master a broad body of knowledge
- Demonstrate an understanding of historical chronology
- Use historical data to support an argument or position
- Interpret and apply data from original documents, including cartoons, graphs, letters, etc
- Effectively use analytical skills of evaluation, cause and effect, compare and contrast
- Work effectively with others to produce products (such as Powerpoint, SmartBoard presentations, review sheets for entire class), and solve problems.
- Use modifications as stated in Individual Education Plan (IEP)

Note: It is mandatory that each student have their textbook and notes in class every day.
Note: Parents/Guardians & administrators will have the right to look at the students’ notebooks at any time.
Grades will be based on the completion and performance on all class assignments, tests, quizzes, participation, homework, and projects.
Authentic Assessment 25%
Received Daily – I will always give you time to start it
Multiple throughout the year. All Materials will be provided
Advanced announcement. Will receive copy of notes and detailed study guide
Missing assignments – All students will receive make up work (missed assignments) the last 2 weeks of marking period.

Academic Dishonesty Policy:
Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated. If cheating is suspected and automatic zero will be given for the assignment.
Requirements to Receive Credit:
Students must demonstrate proficiency in the course material along with being compliant in attendance
