Do you know that the first step in solving a math problem is to read and understand the problem? What is the question asking you to do or find? Unless you figure this out, you may not be able to solve the problem successfully. Next, plan which strategy you will use to solve the problem - do you need to use numbers, equations, tables/diagrams or find a pattern to solve the problem? What math operations do you need to use? Third, have a reasonable plan and solve the problem based on your understanding of the problem. Finally, look back at your work and solution. Does your solution answer the question? Does the solution make sense based on your understanding of the problem? If the answers to these questions are "yes," you are good to go! Good luck!
