SUBJECT: UNITED STATES HISTORY I
This year students will explore the origins of American history. We will begin our studies within this course with an overview of the civic values and responsibilities of United States citizenship. Following this, our studies will continue where the 5th grade curriculum ended with a review of the French and Indian War. The students will analyze the American Revolution and aftermath, the early American presidencies, the War of 1812, the Era of Jackson, discrimination of African Americans and Native Americans, the Antebellum South, the Civil War and end the course with Reconstruction. The students will enjoy the survey of early American studies and become aware of how the United States became the strongest and best nation to live in across our world.
