Thaddeus V. Hammond went to Rutgers University in New Brunswick where most of his musical education was acquired. While there he studied bass with a host of people starting with world-renowned bassist Larry Ridley. During his time there he was able to cultivate his craft by attending master classes with greats such as Rufus Reed, Kenny Barron, Bobby Watson, and Ralph Bowen.
After graduation the honor of playing with many jazz greats was given to him. Sharing and learning from legends such as Jack Mc Duff, Al Grey, David “Fat Head" Newman, Larry Willis, Doug Carne, and Bobby Thomas, just to name a few. Being an educator for the past 10 years Thaddeus attends various workshops including the world famous Victor Wooten Bass/Nature Camp to constantly hone his craft and feeding his desire to learn. As member of the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) Thaddeus also teaches music in the Orange Public Schools where he enforces creativity, discipline, and his love for the arts.
Thaddeus has traveled the world performing and recording with ” vocalist Joshua Nelson sharing the gift of music with all of those who will listen. He is also a regular act at local historic venues that have stood the test of time such as The Priori Jazz Series,(Newark) and Jazz at Moores in Jersey City.
