The Orange Public Schools and NJIT’s Center for Pre-College Programs have joined forces to provide opportunities for Orange Public School students in Grades 4-12, who are interested in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This 5-week intensive summer initiative engages students in classroom discussions and lectures, laboratory experiments, demonstrations in advanced topics in mathematics, geometry, trigonometry, environmental science, physics, engineering, computer programming and application, and language arts.
The district, through its partnering foundation, provides this opportunity annually for up to 20 qualifying students. Click here for additional information! -
The Orange Public Schools continue to partner with New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to provide our students opportunities for university- and industry-level STEM experiences in the areas of Programming with Python, Game Development, Web Development, AI Entrepreneurship, PC Building & Troubleshooting, Forensics & Filmmaking, and more!
Real World Connections (RWC) is a unique program that offers talented middle and high school students the opportunity to be involved in a fun-filled and hands-on educational experience. Students have a unique chance to work with well-known companies or become entrepreneurs as well as industry subject matter experts, alumni, NJIT students and faculty. RWC is the founder of a “University without Walls” model.
RWC classes work as a very social “learning organization” co-designed by students, university and industry. These classes adapt to students’ demands, learn from weekly feedback and respond rapidly to real world clients’ expectations, so education becomes more relevant, exciting and rewarding.
In addition to projects, RWC offers hands-on training in project management, leadership, entrepreneurship, research and development, software tools, programming, engineering, social, presentation and communication skills. This training is integrated with mentorship by industry, university and peers.
