    FilmBoot24 FilmBoot24 is a 24-hour filmmaking program that kicks off Friday, November 16, at Drew University, continues with film creation, Saturday, November 17, and culminates with film screenings and awards presentation at the Red Carpet Event, on Sunday, November 18, at Orange Preparatory Academy.

     Revised 2018-2019 District Calendar

    2018-2019 District Calendar The Orange Board of Education approved a revision to the 2018 -2019 District Calendar at the November 13 Board of Education meeting.

    At the request of Orange Education Association (OEA), March 13, 2019, was changed from a 2:30 p.m. dismissal to a 12:30 p.m. dismissal for students.

    Teen Summit 2018

    Teen summit 2018 The 9th Annual Orange Teen Summit will be held on Friday, November 2, 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 3, 9:00 a.m. to 6:40 p.m., at Lincoln Avenue School. It is free and open to all Orange district students in Grades 7 – 12, parents, guardians and mentors. This year’s theme is “Building Better Relationships with Yourself, Family, Friends and the World.” The Teen Summit 2018 includes inspiring panel discussions, a variety of workshops and fun activities.  Don't miss it! Click here for postcard flyer.

    Week of Respect, October 1 - 5, 2018

    Week of Respect New Jersey's Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act designates the week of the first Monday in October each year as a “Week of Respect.” The Orange Public School District observes the week by providing grade-appropriate instruction to students, focusing on preventing harassment, intimidation, or bullying. The Week of Respect will be observed October 1 – October 5.

    Million Fathers March
    Friday, September 28, 2018

    Million Fathers March The Orange Public School District invites all dads, uncles, grandfathers, coaches, mentors, clergy, men’s groups and organizations to participate in the Million Fathers March, this Friday, September 28, by escorting your children to school. Schools will welcome dads and other participants from 7:40 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.

    All Orange Public School District staff members are to attend the annual Superintendent's Forum on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 8:15 a.m., at Orange Preparatory Academy auditorium, 400 Central Avenue.


    THE CITY OF ORANGE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION     NOVEMBER 6, 2018 

    School Board Election Currently, there are 9 (nine) BOE members as a Type II district, of the nine members 3 (three) members seats are due for election/re-election on November 6, 2018. 

    The petitions are now available in the Office of the Orange Board Business Administrator/Board Secretary between the hours of 8:30 A.M. through 4:00 P.M, at 451 Lincoln Avenue in Orange. 

    The filing deadline for petitions is July 30, 2018, by 4:00 P.M. at the Office of the Essex County Clerk, 465 Martin Luther King Blvd, Newark, Room 246

    Summer 2018 "Road to Reading Royalty" Challenge

    Summer Reading The English Language Arts Department is challenging all district students to become a "Reading Royal" by logging books read from June 25 - September 14, 2018. Students are challenged to become Kings and Queens and vie to be a top reader at their grade level or school to receive a prize.

    SUMMER CAMPS 2018

    Summer Camps The Orange Public School District will offer summer camps for students in Grade 3 to Grade 12. Classes will be offered Monday - Thursday, July 9 - August 2, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    Education Job Fair

    Education Job Fair The Orange Public School District Office of Resources will hold an Education Job Fair for openings for the 2018-2019 school year on Monday, June 25, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 26, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Lincoln Avenue School.

    NJ Student Learning Assessment for Science

    NGSS The New Jersey Student Learning Assessment for Science (NJSLA-S) measures student proficiency based on New Jersey’s state standards. The science standards require students to use science and engineering practices, disciplinary core ideas, and crosscutting concepts, in an integrated way, to make sense of phenomena or to design solutions to problems.

    Preschool Citywide Registration Day

    Preschool Registration Day The Orange Public School District will host a preschool Citywide Registration Day on Wednesday, June 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Orange Early Childhood Center (OECC), located at 397 Park Avenue in Orange. The last sign-in is 1:00 p.m. Parents may also go to the preschool of their choice and register on site with the district’s private providers (See flyer for locations and requirements).

    City of Orange Township Free Summer Food Program 
    Summer Food Program
     
    During the summer, the City of Orange Township will serve free breakfast and lunch to children 18 years old and under, (no ID required) or those over 18 who participate in school programs for the disabled. Meals will be distributed at three city parks (Central Playground, Colgate Park or Metcalf Playground) Monday - Friday, June 27 - August 24, 2018

    PUBLIC NOTICE

    Orange Board of Education Public School District

    The Orange Board of Education has re-scheduled its Public Hearing on the Proposed 2018-2019 District Budget (originally scheduled for Friday, April 27, 2018) to Friday, May 4, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.)at the Lincoln Avenue School, 216 Lincoln Avenue, Orange, New Jersey 07050.  The district's 2018-2019 user friendly budget now approved by the NJ Department of Education is posted under the Business Office webpage


    Applications for the STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges for the 2018-2019 School Year are Now Available!

    The application portal for the STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges is now open. All Orange Public School students who are in the eighth grade are eligible to apply.

    The STEM application due date has been moved from March 30 to Monday, April 9, 2018.

    Preschool Registration Fair

    On Saturday, March 17, the Orange Early Childhood Center, located at 397 Park Avenue, will hold a Preschool Registration Fair for all children who will be three years old by October 1, 2018. Orange provides free preschool for all residents. The fair till be held from 10 AM until 2 PM with the last sign in at 1PM. If you have any questions, call 973-677-4000 x1920 or 1903.

    Orange Adult School

    The Spring 2018 semester of the Orange Adult School will begin on Thursday, March 1, 2018.  Classes will be held on Thursdays at Rosa Parks Community School (RPCS) beginning at 6:15 p.m. ESL classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Orange Public Library (9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.) and at 6:15 p.m. at RPCS.

    Town Hall Meeting - the State of Education
     
    Interim Superintendent Ronald C. Lee presented the State of Education at a Town Hall Meeting on October 19. His presentation included a district overview, PARCC scores, facilities plans and upgrades and an overview of the STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges.
     
    Orange Public Schools - Week of Respect Activities
     

    The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.L. 2010, c.122) requires that the week beginning with the first Monday in October of each year (October 2-6 in 2017) be designated as the Week of Respect in New Jersey.

    Humanitarian Relief for Victims of Hurricane Maria
     
    Interim Superintendent of Schools Ronald C. Lee has announced that each Monday in October will be a dress down day fundraiser for Hurricane Maria relief efforts. He is asking students and staff, on a voluntary basis, to donate at least $1 for students and $5 for staff on each dress down Monday. Mr. Lee also thanked all those who helped the district raise over $3,600 for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma relief efforts and stated that he is hoping that we can join together and raise $20,000 for this worthy humanitarian cause.

    Special Election - March 15, 2017 Update
     
    The residents of Orange voted in the November 2016 election that the Board of Education( BOE) members would be elected by the citizens of Orange, and not appointed by the Mayor. Currently there are seven BOE members, however, an elected Board requires nine members by State Statute. 

    The March 14 Special Election, to elect  two additional members for the City of Orange Board of Education, has been rescheduled for March 28, 2017. All timing, polling places, voting district assignments and other logistical items are identical to those scheduled for March 14.
