    School Board ElectionCurrently, there are 9 (nine) BOE members as a Type II district, of the nine members 3 (three) members seats are due for election/re-election on November 5, 2019. 

    The petitions are now available in the Office of the Orange Board Business Administrator/Board Secretary between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., at 451 Lincoln Avenue in Orange. 

    The filing deadline for petitions is July 29, 2019, by 4:00 p.m. at the Office of the Essex County Clerk, 465 Martin Luther King Blvd, Newark, Room 246

    Summer Camps 2019 The Orange Public School District will offer free summer camps for rising Grade 3 to Grade 8 students. Classes will be held Monday - Thursday, July 1 - August 1, from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    Dr. Gerald Fitzhugh, II The Orange Board of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Gerald Fitzhugh, II has been selected as the new Superintendent of Schools effective July 1, 2019.     Summer 2019 "Reading All-Stars" Challenge

    Reading All-Stars Challenge The English Language Arts Department is challenging all district students to become a "Reading All-Star" by logging books read from June 28 - September 14, 2019. Students can begin at JV  and go to Varsity, College, Pro, and become an All-Star and vie to be a top reader at their grade level or school.

    2018-2019 Calendar Revision - Memorandum

    Guys & Dolls

    Guys & Dolls Orange High School presents the 1950s musical classic Guys & Dolls on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 4, 5, and 6 at 7:00 p.m., with a matinee at 2:00 p.m. on April 6. The musical will be performed on the auditorium stage at the Orange Preparatory Academy, located at 400 Central Avenue in Orange. Tickets are available in advance for $5, and $8 at the door. The board's search consultant from the New Jersey School Boards Association would like your input to detail the criteria for the district’s new superintendent, including background, training, and experience. Applications are due Friday, March 22, 2019 (11:59 p.m.). No applications will be accepted after this time.

    Orange Adult School

    Orange Adult SchoolThe Spring 2019 semester of the Orange Adult School will begin on Thursday, March 14, 2019.  Classes will be held on Thursdays at Rosa Parks Community School (RPCS) beginning at 6:15 p.m. ESL classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Orange Public Library (9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.) and at 6:15 p.m. at RPCS.

    Superintendent Search - Staff and Community Input Sessions Wednesday, February 6, 2019

    Superintendent SearchThe Orange Board of Education invites parents, students, staff and the community to attend a critical issues input session to detail the criteria for the district’s new superintendent of schools including background, training and experience. Search consultant Charlene Peterson, from the New Jersey School Boards Association, will explain the search procedure, the roles played by the Board, the staff and the public in the process, and the calendar for the actual search.     Park Avenue School Seeking Community’s Votes as Part of $200,000 National Education Contest

    Schools Receiving Most People’s Choice Votes Will Win $8,000 Each

    Follett Challenge(Orange, NJ) – Park Avenue School has entered a $200,000 national education contest hoping for a chance at one of the 13 prizes that will be awarded to recognize the most unique and inventive K-12 program.     Orange Page TurnersThe Orange Page Turners 2018-2019 Reading Challenge has begun. From Thanksgiving Day through May Day, students, staff and the entire Orange community are invited to join the English Language Arts Department in this annual reading challenge to read two million pages.

    The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940

    The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940Orange High School presents The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, by John Bishop, on Thursday, December 13 and Friday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m., with a matinee at 2:00 p.m. Directed by Dana Levin, performances of this comedic murder mystery farce will take place on the auditorium stage at the Orange Preparatory Academy.     FilmBoot24FilmBoot24 is a 24-hour filmmaking program that kicks off Friday, November 16, at Drew University, continues with film creation, Saturday, November 17, and culminates with film screenings and awards presentation at the Red Carpet Event, on Sunday, November 18, at Orange Preparatory Academy.

     Revised 2018-2019 District Calendar

    2018-2019 District CalendarThe Orange Board of Education approved a revision to the 2018 -2019 District Calendar at the November 13 Board of Education meeting.

    At the request of Orange Education Association (OEA), March 13, 2019, was changed from a 2:30 p.m. dismissal to a 12:30 p.m. dismissal for students.

    Teen Summit 2018

    Teen summit 2018The 9th Annual Orange Teen Summit will be held on Friday, November 2, 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 3, 9:00 a.m. to 6:40 p.m., at Lincoln Avenue School. It is free and open to all Orange district students in Grades 7 – 12, parents, guardians and mentors. This year’s theme is “Building Better Relationships with Yourself, Family, Friends and the World.” The Teen Summit 2018 includes inspiring panel discussions, a variety of workshops and fun activities.  Don't miss it! Click here for postcard flyer.

    Week of Respect, October 1 - 5, 2018

    Week of RespectNew Jersey's Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act designates the week of the first Monday in October each year as a “Week of Respect.” The Orange Public School District observes the week by providing grade-appropriate instruction to students, focusing on preventing harassment, intimidation, or bullying. The Week of Respect will be observed October 1 – October 5.

    Million Fathers MarchThe Orange Public School District invites all dads, uncles, grandfathers, coaches, mentors, clergy, men’s groups and organizations to participate in the Million Fathers March, this Friday, September 28, by escorting your children to school. Schools will welcome dads and other participants from 7:40 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.
