Welcome to Art!
Welcome back to school, everyone! I am Miss Heaslip, the new art teacher at Oakwood, and I am so excited to be here, back IN PERSON making artwork together. This year, we will be using a variety of art tools and media to explore and create art. Our curriculum covers Color, Painting, Sculpture, and Drawing.
You can expect to see your child’s artwork posted on Class Dojo as the year progresses, and all artwork will be distributed and taken home at the end of the semester/year. There will be several opportunities for artwork to be displayed, including at the Board of Education Office and the Livingston Mall.
In the Oakwood Art Room, every single person is an ARTIST, and the expectation is that everyone behaves as such. Here are the behavior expectations in the art room:
Respect yourself, others, and materials
Talk kindly and quietly
Try your best
Students grades 5-7 are responsible for keeping a sketchbook (made in class) and bringing it to class each week. Unless stated otherwise, homework for these students is always to spend at least 20 minutes drawing in their sketchbooks. Students may choose any school appropriate topic of their choice, or choose from a list of prompts.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason on Class Dojo, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I look forward to working with you to make this a great, successful year!
