OHS Cosmetology Program Gains NJ CTE Program of Study Approval
We’re proud to announce that the Orange Public Schools Cosmetology Program has earned official approval as a Program of Study by the New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Career Readiness. This recognition means that our students now have an exceptional pathway to develop professional skills, build industry knowledge, and achieve state licensure—all before graduating from high school.
Starting in their sophomore year, students in the Cosmetology Program will dive into a rich, hands-on curriculum that blends technical expertise with creativity and business insight. Over the three-year program, students will not only learn the fundamentals of cosmetology but also gain real-world experience, preparing them for the competitive beauty industry.
In their senior year, students will be eligible to take the New Jersey Cosmetology State Licensing Exam. Those who pass will graduate as licensed cosmetologists, ready to step directly into rewarding careers or continue their education in beauty and wellness fields.
This achievement sets them on a path toward long-term success and opens doors to a range of career opportunities right out of high school.
A special thank you to Mrs. Perez for her unwavering commitment and instrumental support in making this program a reality. Her dedication to our students and their future has made it possible for Orange High School to provide an innovative, career-focused education that equips students with the tools they need to thrive.
