ORANGE, NJ — The OrangeWeek2024! Color Festive took place at Monte Irvin Orange Park on Saturday, June 8, and was a vibrant day of fun for the entire Orange community. The event commenced with opening remarks from Faith Alcantara, Executive Director of Innovation and Community Engagement, and Barry Devone, Community Engagement Officer. Superintendent of Schools Gerald Fitzhugh, II, and staff members across the district conducted enjoyable activities for OrangeWeek2024!
The US Army National Guard's UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter landing in the park was an attention-grabbing moment of the festival. This experience allowed attendees to explore the helicopter and interact with the pilots.
The festival included various activities, such as free bikes provided by TREK Bikes Summit and Bike Safety and Learning Skills Classes offered by EZ-Ride. Additionally, the OPS STEM Team, led by Executive Director of STEM Focused-Learning David Scutari, organized a STEM Festival with thrilling rocket launches. The day was highlighted by the standout activity of the day — the 5K Color Run.
Attendees could participate in free raffles, receive giveaways, and gather information from various vendors. Special recognition was given to community partners such as the Family Connections NJ4S Program and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center for their support.
The City of Orange Township, NJ, collaborated on this week-long series of events. The success of OrangeWeek2024! has set a high bar, and anticipation is building for next year's festivities.
Thanks were extended to all community members who joined and contributed to the day's jovial spirit.
