Orange Preparatory Academy Instructor Presented With a Financial Literacy in Education Award

On June 24, Mr. Glenn Gamble, Orange Preparatory Academy business education/financial literacy teacher, was given a Financial Literacy in Education Award from the Circle of Rainbow Sisters Seeking Spiritual and Wellness Connection (CORESSWC), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Superintendent Dr. Fitzhugh presented the award from the organization's president, Ms. Maritza Brown. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Terri Russo, and Board President Shawneque Johnson were present to celebrate his achievement at the Board of Education Office.

At the CORESSWC's first virtual Recognition and Appreciation Award Ceremony on May 23, Mr. Gamble was honored as a recipient for bringing skills to their program that complements a school's financial literacy curriculum for teens. Mr. Gamble enhanced their workshops by adding the Stock Market Game, Flocabulary, and EverFi Certification tools. As a direct result, the first three students who completed CORESSWC workshops last year earned an A or B in their HS Junior term, 1st marking period's Financial Literacy class. They attributed their success to the added tools and budgeting, savings, goal, and financial needs assessments.

Mr. Gamble accepted the Award and received accolades from Ms. Brown, Superintendent Dr. Fitzhugh, Director Dr. Russo, and Board President Johnson.
