    Story Time

    15-20 min.
    (refer to calendar for dates and titles)

    Open up the Read Aloud video for the day. You may pause as it plays to ask your child a predicting question or answer a question your child may have. After watching the Read Aloud, help your child answer the questions and do any writing activities that go along with it.

    For 3-year-olds: focus on making connections to the characters in the story and remembering at least 3 details in the story.

    For 4-year-olds: focus on retelling the beginning, middle, and end, and if there was a problem/solution in the story. Talk about what else might happen after the story ended or how you might change the ending. Point out who the author and illustrator are.


    Writing/Fine Motor

    5-10 min.
    (refer to calendar for dates *Color Blue Activities*, and “I can write about” page for journal entries)

    Encourage your child to do pick a journal entry. Remember, writing is fun! Encourage your child to describe what they are writing to you and YOU (Parent) can also take time to do your own journal entry alongside your child.

    Some activities will also focus on fine-motor development (to make their hand muscles strong). These are VERY IMPORTANT.

    For 3-year-olds: the focus is on strengthening hand muscles in order to make symbols/pictures that represent something. Some students might also make letter like forms and letter strings. Encourage children to “label” their picture and write their name.

    For 4-year-olds: the focus is on making detailed pictures, the more details the better. Students should label their pictures using beginning sounds (b for banana, a for ant). Inventive spelling is also encouraged for those who are ready.

    Alphabet Knowledge (ELA)

    10-15 mins. (every day)

    (refer to sequence # on your packets)

    For 3-year-olds: Focus on recognizing the letters in their names (full names)

    For 4-year-olds: Focus on recognizing uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as letter sounds. Some older students can also begin to work on inventive spelling and CVC words.


    10—15 min. (every day)
    (refer to sequence # on your packets)

    For 3-year-olds: Focus on counting out loud and pointing with finger to count (1 to 1 correspondence). Also focus on shape recognition of circle, square, triangle, and rectangle. Finally, focus on identifying numbers 0-10.

    For 4-year-olds: Focus on identifying numbers 0-20 around your home or anywhere you may go. Focus on counting on (start from 5 and go on or start from 10 and go on). Ask your child what is one more than, or one less than. Some students can also begin simple addition.


    5 to 10 min. (every day)

    Please discuss the weather each day, move the arrow on the weather wheel, and allow your child to color in the weather graph. Some questions to ask your child are:
    Do you like the weather today? What do you see in the sky? Is it light or dark? Is it cold or warm? What could you wear today? What is the temperature (check on your phone/weather channel)?

    Large Muscle Movement

    10 to 15 min. (every day)

    Please allow your child to exercise: run, jump, ride a trike, stretch, or listen and move to the songs that can be accessed through the "Daily Activities" tab under the heading "Gross Motor."


    30 to 60 mins (every day)

    An important part of preschool learning comes through play. Please allow some time for your child to have authentic play, with toys, with siblings, with family members. You can also ask your child to teach you some of our favorite classroom songs (bonus: sing them while washing your hands!):
