On Thursday, May 4, 2017, Math teachers at Cleveland joined a virtual field trip to the NBA Headquarters to learn how integral Math is to the sport and profession. The trip was hosted by Discovery Education. Teachers were able to join in anytime during the day and as many times as they wanted.
During the 30-minute virtual field trip, the students learned about how NBA staffers use math to gather data, form statistics, and strategize to improve the game of basketball. They heard from NBA professionals about how they put their math skills to work every day and how to calculate points per shot based on an on-court demonstration.
The teachers who participated were:
Mr. Crawley (3rd, Math & Science) Ms. Fennell (4th, Math & Science) Mr. DeLoatch (6th & 7th, Math) Mr. Nathan (7th, Contained)
