    Welcome to the Extended Learning Resource Page.  This page was created to provide students working from home with access to assignments, links, assessments, and practice resources.  Schools will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 – Friday, March 27.  Additional information and daily updates can be found on the district’s COVID-19 Resource Page found at https://www.orange.k12.nj.us/domain/3058.

    • Think about the experiences Gilberto had with Wind.   Your drawings/notes choose one example of Wind being gentle and one example of Wind being strong.  Draw a picture of the wind in the story.   You will begin writing a paragraph using evidence from the text.  When you are done you will share your writing and drawing with a partner.  
      • Sample answer: The book Gilberto and the Wind teaches us about wind.   In the book, wind is gentle when it floats balloons in the air.  The book shows how wind is strong when it bangs gates shut.  
      • Students’ drawings should clearly match the writing. 
      • Students should write their answer independently using inventive spelling.  If the students writing is difficult for others to read, on a post it note the teacher can dictate the student’s response and place the post it note on the back of the written response so that you can check if students can recall the text.

    ELA: Reintroduce to your child the new high frequency words and vocabulary words. These will be showing up in the read aloud book and will help your child have a better understanding of the book.
