ELA: Today your child will need the handout sheet we worked on in class yesterday (characters and setting), plain paper, a pencil and crayons. Last, have your child color his/her drawing.

*A few important notes to remember

     1. Drawings are to be done in pencil and should line the bottom of the paper; characters and setting should not be flying in the air.

    2. Students should be using the alphabet chart provided in the supply kits to help them spell a word(s). Students should also use strategies such as tapping out the sounds in words OR stretching the word out like a rubber band to help them spell a word(s).

     3. It is okay to offer your child prompting and support, but it is not okay to do the work for them. This does not make it their authentic work.

     4. This week-long assignment is a Performance Task (an assessment). Please take dictations on exactly what your child says even if it is grammatically incorrect.

*Please dojo me tomorrow if you have any questions about any of the assignments.

It is MANDATED by the district that your child goes on for 45 minutes a week for it to be effective. The administration and I are able to see the days and the length of time that your child spends on it. The data is showing that many of the children are not logging on, are logging on but inconsistently, or logging on but for 10 minutes. Please use this day to practice with your child and get him/her familiar with it as we will be taking time during the day to log on until the usage increases.
