1. Can the school nurse give my child over-the-counter medication (cough syrup or Tylenol) while in school?Medication to be given in school requires parent's consent, and a written doctor's order. Please contact the school nurse for a medication administration form if needed.2. Can my child carry their own asthma inhaler or Epi-pen in school?If your child has a chronic health condition like asthma or severe allergies, a written parent's consent and physician's order is required for a student to carry their own medications.Please contact the school nurse to discuss the issue of your child carrying their own medication in school.3. When should I keep my child home from school?Any child with a fever of 100 degrees, vomiting, constant coughing, or diarrhea should be kept home.If your child is sent home from school with a fever, vomiting or constant coughing, they should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.If there is no improvement in your child's condition, please take your child to the pediatrician.
