Ms. Monique Walker
I am pleased to introduce myself and welcome your child to my class. My name is Monique Walker and I will be teaching 6th/7th grade ELA (English Language Arts) for the 2022-2023 school year. This school year makes my 21st year in Education. I grew up in East Orange, NJ and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Seton Hall University and a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege as well as a huge responsibility. I plan on doing my best with making sure my classroom is a safe learning environment and that your child is motivated to learn. However, I cannot do this alone; I need your help. We need to be partners in the learning process. I would like each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed all of their assignments, and help them study for quizzes and tests.
Homework will be assigned daily. All assignments will be posted in the classroom and students are required to write down their assignments before leaving class. Homework will also be posted on my page on the Orange Board of Ed website. Please try your best to review all assignments, as this is a reflection of what we have discussed in class that day. Homework is very imperative and should be completed every night. Any student that is absent will receive missed assignments upon their return.
Finally, below you will find of list of items that the students will need for the 2022-2023 school year. I am looking forward to working with you and your child. We are going to have a great year!
3- composition notebooks
blue or black pens
girls- tissue
boys- hand sanitizer or Lysol wipes
