Welcome Mathematicians!!

Dear Parents,

I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and welcome both you and your child to my class. My name is Tyarra Hunter and I will be your child’s fifth /sixth grade Mathematics Teacher for the 2022 - 2023 academic school year. This is my 21st year of teaching. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Phoenix.

As an educator, I believe that a good learning experience is built on the cooperative effort among parent, child, and teacher. Middle school mathematics will be more intricate, rigorous, student-driven, and will challenge students to become self-sufficient independent thinkers. I know that math can be a scary subject for many, but I am confident that with a little hard work and dedication, your child will be able to accomplish a great deal this school year.

My expectations for conduct and academic standards are high. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful of others, themselves, their parents, my classroom environment, & Forest Street School. They are expected to participate during class Meets, take notes, and complete all assignments daily. In addition, students are encouraged to review their notes and/or previous class videos/recordings for better clarity. Lastly, students should report for additional practice when deemed necessary by the teacher, parents or student.

With your participation, structure, and support at home, we can look forward to a productive, exciting, and enjoyable year together. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to email me at hunterty@orange.k12.nj.us or contact me via the REMIND app. Also, be sure to check my school wire page located on our Forest Street homepage under the faculty for important information & updates.

                                                 Educationally Yours,

                                              Ms. Tyarra Hunter
