Greetings and Welcome to this year's Instrumental Class. My name is Mr.Hammond, and I am the Instrumental Music Instructor in the Orange School District. This course ensures that all  students receive a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of music creation. By the end of this course, your scholar will attain proficiency in Music Literacy and Composition. This foundation directly impacts their ability to participate in and appreciate more advanced musical experiences and prepares them for professional work opportunities or matriculation into college music programs. Each scholar is required to have a 30-page (minimum) notebook dedicated exclusively to this class. All homework assignments are posted and graded in Google Classroom, where you can view your scholar's progress. There will be a regular schedule of one assignments (minimum) and one quiz weekly, ensuring a steady pace of learning. If you have difficulty viewing the classroom, please email me, and I will happily assist you. One of their first assignments will involve ensuring I have the correct contact information for their parent/guardian. So, please help them get that accomplished. Please reply to this message (even if it says "received"). This class can be challenging, but it is worth it for your scholar's future success in Performing Arts. If you need to reach me by phone or text, please don't hesitate to email me at hammonth@orange.k12.nj.us  am looking forward to a great year and meeting you soon.

Each class period will open with a short do now exercise.  Students will complete in-class assignments that may be completed as homework if required.  Students will be given quizzes inside each unit as well as unit tests at the end of each week. Students will complete weekly practice homework assignments.   Late work will be accepted with a 10 point deduction per day (including days that the class does not meet).  Each term, students will be given at least one writing assessment.
