    The Orange Public Schools Expectations for Extended learning for First Grade

    • All parents are expected to sign up for Class Dojo through invitation or passcode sent from Ms. Kang. Click here for Class Dojo.

    • Parents/students must check teacher's website AND Class Dojo daily to check for assignments. Students are expected to complete each assignment by the end of the day by 5 pm!! 

    • ELA written assignments can be done in student's homework notebook that was sent home. Math assignments can be done in math journal that was sent home and Eureka workbooks. Science assignments can be done in students science journals. Social studies are done online on Pearson using students clever log in information (use link provideded).

    • Parents are expected to take a picture of the completed work and send to Ms. Kang in PORTFOLIO on Class Dojo to be assessed by the teacher. 

    • If student was not in attendence on Monday 3/16, please CLICK HERE to view the take home packet that students can complete and use as additional resource. (I DO NOT NEED pictures of these pages sent to me. I will collect them once we are back in school).

    Student responsibilities in completing the assignments include:

    • Identifying a comfortable and quiet space to study/learn
    • Dedicating appropriate time to learning, as guided by your teachers
    • Checking appropriate Google Classrooms for information on classes, assignments, and resources, on a daily basis.
    • Attending and participating in any check-in times offered by your teachers
    • Engaging in the virtual platforms with academic honesty, integrity, and according to thedistrict’s Acceptable Use Policy
    • Turning in and submitting all assignments in following timelines and/or due dates.

    Parents responsibilities include:

    •  Monitoring OPS updates sent via phone blasts, Class Dojo, Remind, Google Classroom, district website, etc.

    • Checking in with your child daily about the At-Home/Virtual Learning tasks, activities, and assessments that they are working on

    • Encouraging adherence and attendance in the At-Home/Virtual Learning check-in times offered by each of your children’s teachers

    • Designating a place and time where your child will work independently on his/her assigned tasks

    • Asking your child to provide a brief summary of the learning he/she is engaging in for each

      class to ensure their understanding of the content

    • Asking your child about their deadlines and supporting them, as needed, in submitting assignments in

      accordance with the established deadlines

    • Helping your child manage logs to document progress on assignments and lessons

    • Reminding your child to contact/email his/her teachers if they have any questions

    • Remaining in communication with your child’s teacher(s) via email & class dojo.
