ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Mrs. Dormann and I am the Gifted and Talented Science teacher at Scholars Academy. My husband Ryan is an engineer and we have a beautiful four-year-old daughter named Aurora - after the Northern Lights and an eight-month-old son named Mateo. I studied Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina. While I was there, I was part of the Marine Mammals Stranding Program. We studied whales and dolphins who beached themselves to figure out what was wrong and how we could help. In my free time, I love to scuba dive and rebuild classic cars. I received my teaching degree from William Paterson, as well as a degree in Math and Biology. I was trained at Stevens Institute of Technology in Engineering Education. I previously taught math and science at Paterson Academy for the Gifted and Talented.
I hope to make your child’s learning experience a fun yet challenging one, and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s life. Maintaining each child's self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority this year. At home, please celebrate your child's success, no matter how small it may seem. This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work!
I am looking forward to working with your child this year and helping them to achieve their full potential. I believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate with you through Class Dojo, telephone calls, and Progress Reports. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can call me at school or e-mail me at dormanka@orange.k12.nj.us.
