    Welcome to the Extended Learning Resource Page. This page was created to provide students working from home with access to assignments, links, assessments, and practice resources.     2nd Grade ELA

    Monday March 30: Due 3/31

    Students should continue with reading articles for women’s history month. This is a two day assignment that is due on Tuesday. Today students can read through the article on Oprah Winfrey. Students can begin comprehension questions today, but do not have to hand in until Tuesday. Note: This is a “challenge reading”, meaning some of the vocabulary may be challenging, but you can use a dictionary if you need to or have someone help you read it to you. This is to prepare you for 3rd grade.

    Wednesday March 25: Due 3/25

    This is a phonics review for “Silent E”. When we add the vowel “e” to the end of a CVC word the short vowel sound becomes a long vowel and we do no not pronounce the “e”. For example “can” has the short “a” sound, if we add the silent “e” at the end it becomes “cane”. Complete the attached printable. Afterwards you can use the online game attached as well to help you more on Silent “e”.

    Thursday March 26: 3/26

    Today we will continue working with silent “e”. Ion this lesson we will add the silent “e” to the end of each word and pronounce the word with a long vowel sound. Remember when we add Silent “e” to the end of a CVC word we do not pronounce the “e” but the vowel sound becomes long instead of short. Once you have finished the printable you can continue to play the Silent “e” game.

    Today you can take what you have learned about Silent e, and Long and Short Vowels and complete this online game about sorting long and short vowel sounding words.     Today we will begin working on two digit numbers and how to tell the difference between the ones place and tens place. In order to get started you can start by filling in this number chart to get familiar with the 2 digit numbers that we will be working with this week.      Today we will begin adding one and two digit numbers together. Start with adding the numbers in the one’s place first. Then move to the left and add your ten’s place numbers. After you have added both of your ones and tens you will have an answer that is a 2 digit number.     This is a phonics review for beginning blends. Match the beginning sound that you hear when you say the name of the picture. For example: If there is a picture of a "broom" I know that the beginning sound is "br" so I would match it with the "br" blend. After completing the assignment you can play the blending game.     This is another phonics review. In this lesson you will idenitfy the ending blend sounds. For example if I see a picture of a desk. I know that the ending blend is "sk" so I would match the picture of a desk with the "sk".     Complete hundreds chart with missing numbers. Don't forget the patterns of ten to help you. 3, 13, 23, 33, 43...

    Friday March 20: Due 3/20

     Fairy Addition. We have been working with adding ten to two digit numbers. Today we will review adding on with 1 and 2 digit addition problems. complete the addition problems in the link below.
