My name is Ericka Arias and I am the Spanish teacher at Heywood Ave School. This is my 6th year at Heywood. I will be working with students in grades 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th.
Sources on this page were created by several Spanish teachers, and are designed to improve your proficiency and ability in reading, writing, listening and speaking in Spanish. Please take a few minutes of your time to navigate and to practice the lessons according to your interest and needs.
My expectations for my students are that they will gain and understand language acquisition, cultural awareness, traditions and differences that will help them succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
Dear parents/guardians,
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Señora Arias and I am honored to be your child’s Spanish teacher. This is my 6th year at Heywood Elementary School and I hope to make this year an exciting and enriched environment for your child. I previously taught for 2 years at the Orange Preparatory Academy, which introduced me to this wonderful community. Then I taught 4 years at Cleveland as a Spanish teacher and last 2 years at Forest Street School as a First grade teacher. In total, this is my 14th year teaching in Orange.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead. I also want to stress to you that I take my responsibilities as a Spanish teacher very seriously and feel that my class is as equally important as the other subjects your child will be taking this school year.
I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have questions or concerns at any time. You can email me at ariaseri@mail.orange.k12.nj.us , or contact me via Classroom Dojo. Please make sure to check your classdojo for any class information, updates, assignments, or reminders regarding our Spanish class.
Your child will receive a daily schedule from the school or their homeroom teacher. Please make sure to follow the daily schedule and that they are prepared for Spanish class at the time and day given.
Please feel free to participate in your child’s Spanish class year as much as you are able. I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you and your child!
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Señora Arias
