    Ms. Carrie J. Halstead joined the Orange School District in September 2004 with the grand opening of the then Main Street School – now Rosa Parks Community School. She served there for 9 ½ years teaching 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th grades with Social Studies being her content of focus. Additionally, she served as the Comer School Facilitator at Rosa Parks Community School for 2 years. During the 2012-13 school year, Ms. Halstead was named Assistant Principal at Orange Preparatory Academy, serving 2 ½ years before joining the awesome administrative team at Orange High School as Assistant Principal in September 2015.

    Ms. Halstead grew up in Virginia and attended school in the Norfolk Public School system, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and her graduate degree from Grand Canyon University.

    Additionally, Ms. Halstead works delibrately with students and families to ensure student academic and social growth. Coming from extremely humble beginnings, it is important to Ms. Halstead to work tirelessly to assist families overcome issues that cause students to lose hope which many times causes students to not be focused on their educational goals.

    During her free time, Ms. Halstead enjoys spending time with her daughter, Yanni Denise and the rest of her family, reading, keeping up with the lastest news by watching her favorite channel CNN, and giving of her time to worship and minister at her church, Calvary Gospel Church, in Newark, NJ.
