After learning about Native Americans through a virtual visit to the Plymouth Museum, reading about the Pilgrims coming to our country, and their culture and history, we created a Peace Tree of our own. Students thought of the words they would like to see on their tree. Now we will move on to playing with those rhythms and words in music with instruments.

Week starting on Tuesday September 9th
This week we've been learning about steady beat and rhythm!  Did you know that you can feel the beat, like a heartbeat or a pulse, but you make rhythm?  This week we've been listening to music and showing what we feel by patting, clapping, walking, creating movements and counting in a 4/4 time signature.  We've learned the song 'That's What's New With Me", and we've moved in 4 bar phrases, walking 4 beats then freezing 4 beats. We've had a lot of fun! Check back for more next week.

During the week of 9/22 we read the book The Man Who Walked Between the Towers by Mordicai Gerstein.
     Man Who Walked
We watched the video of him doing that, and we ourselves, kept the steady beat while we walked an imaginary tightrope in our class.                                                                                                                               You can hear the story on YouTube here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEDT8mCOfM4

We ourselves tried to walk very slowly to the beat of Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1
