    Rhythm: (Note Values/Lengths) The student should demonstrate the correct rhythm by playing the correct length of each note in the appropriate tempo given by the teacher.

     

    Technique: (Use of body [fingers, lips, hands, etc] The student should demonstrate correct finger placement on the instrument, as well as accuracy in moving fingers in conjunction with articulation. Embouchure will also be considered, as well as stick grip and strike for percussion.

     

    Knowledge: (Reading, Understanding) The student should demonstrate and understanding of the music notation being read. This includes, but is not limited to accuracy of notes, dynamics, and following symbols.

     

    Tone: (clarity of sound) The students should demonstrate a clean, crisp sound for each pitch played. The student should also be aware of playing “higher notes” versus “lower notes” which will be reflected in the tone.

     

    Expression: (Musicianship, artistry) The student should attempt the demonstrate and appropriate level of musicianship by having correct posture, focus, and expression in his/her playing.
