    About Ms. D’Emic:

Hi Everyone! I am Ms. Maria D’Emic and I’m very excited about starting year three at Scholar's Academy, teaching Mathematics in the Gifted and Talented program.  Teaching is a second career for me and the most rewarding one I have had. My first career was in the field of Retail Banking for approximately 20 years in New York and New Jersey.  I then moved south for five years where I gained valuable teaching experience in an urban public school district in Charlotte, North Carolina. I love math, building relationships, and looking for patterns everywhere!

I was born in New York and moved to New Jersey to raise a family. I have two amazing adult children named Christina and Robert. We enjoy spending as much time together as possible outdoors hiking, swimming and enjoying nature.  I attended Brookdale Community College as an adult student while raising my children and then transferred to Kean University to complete my degree in Elementary Education.  I was inspired by my mother , who worked as an elementary and middle school teacher and I always enjoyed hearing her stories with many positive moments and outcomes . While my children attended elementary school, I volunteered in the district and became a Girl Scout Leader, which furthered my passion for instilling a love for learning and growing young minds. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with your child and build lasting relationships with each individual and family.
