About Ms. D’Emic:
My name is Ms. Maria D’Emic and I’m very excited about teaching Mathematics in the Gifted and Talented program at Scholars Academy for the second year in the Orange School District. Teaching is a second career for me and the most rewarding one I have had. My first career was in the field of Retail Banking for approximately 20 years in New York and New Jersey. I then moved south for five years where I gained valuable teaching experience in an urban public school district in Charlotte, North Carolina. I love math, building relationships, and looking for patterns everywhere!
I was born in New York and moved to New Jersey to raise a family. I have two amazing adult children named Christina and Robert. We enjoy spending as much time together as possible outdoors hiking, swimming and enjoying nature. I attended Brookdale Community College as an adult student while raising my children and then transferred to Kean University to complete my degree in Elementary Education. I was inspired by my mother , who worked as an elementary and middle school teacher and I always enjoyed hearing her stories with many positive moments and outcomes . While my children attended elementary school, I volunteered in the district and became a Girl Scout Leader, which furthered my passion for instilling a love for learning and growing young minds. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with your child and build lasting relationships with each individual and family.
