Dear Parents/Guardians,

My name is Viviana Olivero and I will be your child’s Science teacher this year. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about myself both professionally and personally.  This is my first year teaching at Oakwood Avenue Community School. Prior to starting in the Orange School district I was a student teacher in the Elizabeth school district in the Highschool for one year. I am very excited to complete my first year of teaching at Oakwood Avenue Community School!

I graduated from Kean University with a dual certification degree in Special Education and Biology. I also have a Culinary degree from the Institute of Culinary Education and cooked professionally for over 10 years before I decided to go back to school to pursue education. In my free time, I like to cook, shop, and spend time with my family and pets! I love science and teaching! I also enjoy spending time in nature and gardening.

My mission as your child’s teacher is to help your child reach his/her fullest potential and address their learning needs.  I am dedicated to making my classroom a place where your child can feel safe and comfortable to grow and learn. I will set high expectations for your child’s success and I will work with your child to meet those expectations. I prioritize hands on learning in my classroom through experiments and caring for class pets to provide real world connections, and use models of science concepts that will address different types of learners.

It is very important that I can work with you, parents/guardians as partners in education. Your support and involvement in your child’s academic career will help ensure that all students are provided the best opportunities for growth and learning.

I look forward to meeting you and learning more about you and your child.

    Mrs. Viviana Olivero
