Welcome Class of 2022

Welcome Class 2021-2022

  • Welcome!  You have been assigned to my Math class, Ms. Dineel Sealy, Room #410. I am going to be your child’s math teacher this year and am looking forward to the experience. I have spent my career only teaching 7th grade, which makes me very familiar with the curriculum as well as the expectations. I understand the last few years presented us with challenges that were unexpected. However, I believe that with these experiences came growth for myself and your children. I look forward to seeing what each child is capable of this school year.

Over the past few years, I have become very aware of the impact a teacher can have on the lives of their students.  As students enter school, they are turned over to the care of their teacher for almost seven hours a day.  I am a supporter of home-school communication.  It is my goal that this letter will be the basis of a great deal of dialogue and communication between us.  We will discuss your child, what’s happening at school, and ways that you and I will be able to support your child both in the classroom and at home.

My goal of an ongoing dialogue leaves me with a small request.  Would you take a few minutes to jot down some thoughts about your child?  What shouldn’t I wait to find about him/her?  What are your child’s greatest strengths, proudest achievements, and favorite things to do?  What are the things you admire most about your child?  How does your child learn best?  What are your hopes for this upcoming school year?  Feel free to include anything you would like me to know.

Why am I asking you to do this?  I believe that when a parent and teacher communicate about a child, the child is often happier, and has a more successful school year.  The more I know about your child, the better I can meet his/her specific needs.  This is going to be an exciting and fun school year; my goal is to make this the best year for each student in my class.

Please sign this letter and return with your child to school, also you can email me your thoughts as well.  I look forward to reading your letters and meeting you in person in a few weeks.

    Sincerely,
