Mr. Torres- Culinary Arts Teacher

   Food has played a significant role for both me and my family. From a very young age, I had the desire to assist my mother with her preparation of daily meals. Following high school, I received a formal education from Johnson & Wales University to become a professional Chef. I earned an Associate degree in the applied science of culinary arts and have accumulated several years of professional experience working as a chef in the hotel industry. In addition to assisting with the daily operation of a hotel kitchen, I have catered many culturally diverse events, worked with corporations in team building activities, and assisted in the food preparation for specific religious holidays.

   When I saw the opportunity to get my teachers certificate I looked at it as an opportunity to give back to the young minds of this generation. Growing up in Paterson and Passaic as a troubled youth I was guided by teachers who cared about me and wanted to see me succeed in life. I now find myself doing the same for this generation. I enjoy teaching students life skills that they will be able to take with them through-out their lives.
