OHS School Grade - Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act
In order to foster safe and positive learning conditions for students, the school and district grades are part of an integrated process for reinforcing and strengthening our school’s climate and culture through prevention and intervention efforts targeted toward harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB). We hope to encouraged you to use the data to help us identify and address areas for improvement.   

“Beginning with the September 2011-2012 school year, our school district/school has conscientiously implemented the requirements found in the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act by establishing HIB programs, approaches and initiatives.

“During the first two years of implementation of the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, our school district/school has made progress in addressing and improving harassment, intimidation and bullying and the school climate and culture by creating school-wide conditions to prevent and address HIB.

“While completing the Self-Assessment, we learned that our school has demonstrated strengths in these areas:

  • School employees, contracted service providers and volunteers are provided training on the HIB policy.
  • The HIB policy was discussed with students, in accordance with the district’s process for these discussions.

“The Self-Assessment helped our school to identify areas for improvement in the following areas:

  •  Professional development in effective practices of successful school climate programs or approaches.
  • Ongoing, age-appropriate instruction on preventing HIB in accordance with the Core Curriculum Content Standards.

“During the upcoming year, our school will be working towards and seek your involvement in improving

  • Staff member completion of at least 2 hours of instruction in suicide prevention that included information on HIB, in each five-year professional development period.

OHS has partnered with NJ Food Bank and the Tools 4 School program to offer certified staff members the opportunity to "shop til you drop." Twice a year OHS staff members can visit the NJ Food Bank located in Hillside, NJ to get classroom supplies i.e. paper, pencils, binders, etc... for FREE.
